ARTIST STATEMENT

In my artistic practice, which includes painting and object-making, I explore relationality inspired by water as both a material and a metaphor. I am interested in questions of hydrofeminism, ecology, and speculative visions of the future. I draw inspiration, among others, from Astrida Neimanis’s concept of Thinking with Water, which understands water as a medium connecting organisms and proposes fluid, non-hierarchical relationships between forms of life.

In painting, I treat the image as a space of coexistence and transformation. Through light, fluidity of forms, and tensions between the organic and the geometric, I create compositions in which visual intensity coexists with a sense of uncertainty. Water is not presented as a landscape motif, but as a structure of being-together—a system of flows and interdependencies. Forms resembling planetary and molecular systems create a vision of the cosmos as a living, breathing matter.

My practice connects micro and macro scales, the personal and the cosmic. I introduce images of tension and pressure, in which organic forms interact with luminous structures, evoking the experience of pain—both bodily and planetary. In this way, I address the fragility of contemporary systems and the need for interspecies empathy.

I perceive the world as a system of interconnected vessels—a circulation in which each element exists through its relationship with others. I create speculative structures and images in which coexistence is based on flow, interdependence, and the absence of domination between life forms.

My work grows out of anger and disappointment with the condition of the contemporary world, but also from hope. In thinking with water, I see the possibility of renewal, the dissolving of boundaries, and the recovery of faith in the future.
